Am I missing something, or can't you print 5x7" with this software?
I actually like the print quality using it but the paper and other
options seem pitifully lacking.
Hi Gail,

What version are you using? I believe the most current version is 2.1.1. It has 5x7 as on option. I use it all the time and am happy with the results on my Canon i850. I just tried Ilford Smooth Pearl and really like it. Anyway, updating to the latest version should solve your problem. Good luck.

I have the latest update, version 2.1.1. No 5x7" paper option. I
don't get it.
Hi again Gail,

What printer are you using? The help menu says that "Only the sizes of paper that can be used in the selected printer are displayed." I am using Canon i850 and mine shows the following choices of paper:

4x6
5x7
Letter
A4
4x6(perforated)

Maybe your printer does not support 5x7 for some reason, or maybe you need to update your printer driver. Just a thought. Good luck.

Even if you have the latest EZPP version, print sizes may depend on up to date printer driver allowing 7x5" prints.

Did you get Canon PhotoRecord? Check the CD. If so I think it will allow custom sizes and might be worth checking out.

QImage is most flexible though.

You're probably correct. I have a s900. I think I'll contact Canon. This is still a fine printer and it's not that "old" so they should address this. I guess I have to use some of my other software. NikonView does a nice job, and I have other options.

For the person who mentioned Qimage, I've downloaded the trial version and, sorry, but I'm really not interested in it.

I'm using, but 5x7 is an option for both my I850, and my i9100...Go to the Canon site and download the latest version....That's what I did 6 months ago!!...Oddly...I've never printed a 5X7...But I can.....Frank

Thank you, but I have the lastest version. Evidently there is no
5x7 capability for the 900s. :(
Officially perhaps not, but you can do them borderless using non-EZPP applications - you just choose a larger borderless paper size in the driver, size the image to 5x7 and align it in the top left of the larger paper area.

If you haven't tried QImage recently there are newer help files/learn by example tips, but I appreciate you may not want to use it if you don't need/like the features - up to you really Gail.

Thank you Richard. I do have alternative printing methods that work fine.

No, I don't care for the interface of Qimage, and don't have time to hassle with something so non-intuitive. For my needs, I see no advantage of buying another piece of software.

Qimage not intuitive?

Set up driver for desired paper/size

Select size of print, duoble click on images to be printed, print (most operations can be done in mouse 4-6 clicks!)

Everything else is just as easy and the getting started help section is very easy to follow.

Actually, I don't think the 900 or 9000 was ever spec'd for 5" X 7" paper (or paper handling). It will print 5" X 7" images using Easy PhotoPrint Plus but it uses larger paper and prints 1 or 2 images on the larger paper. To put it another way, my s9000 driver does not show 5" X 7" paper as an option ... it's a printer (driver) shortcoming, not a fault in Easy PhotoPrint.

I felt the same way until I realized I wouldn't be satisfied until I knew that my color management was okay. I was never satisfied with prints from Easy Photoprint, they seemed to be a little too orange/yellow in the skin tones which is a real problem for us Hawaiians/Asians ;-). Of course this is all because Canon's default profiles aren't as accurate as they could be.

I toiled around with ACD Fotoslate for a while and got a taste for what profiling can do to help. I had tried Qimage first and hated it because of the interface. Later when it came time to purchase Fotoslate I decided to give Qimage one more chance. . . I've been a Qimage fan ever since.

You have to give yourself a few days to really try out it's basic features but the power of it really shows vs photoprint particularly in regards to print quality and color accuracy (when using ICC profiles). The learning curve is a little flatter with Qimage but eventually everything becomes clear and intuitive. There are a number of nice things about Qimage that make it so much better than other programs; interpolation, ability to fix any print size you want and place it optimally on any paper size, ICC aware, saving sessions like albumns to print later, having print settings saved for each paper type you use, advanced filters (contrast, brightness, sharpness, color correction etc. etc.) . . on and on . .

There isn't anything I can do in photoprint that I can't do in Qimage in about the same amount of time. The difference would be the quality of the print from Qimage would likely be better, particularly if the photo has been enlarged.

There's no way for me to apply ICC profiles in photoprint, so all of my prints to non-Canon papers are going to be based on Canon settings. This isn't a good thing when you want accurate and predictable color response. I personally don't like Canon's papers so profiling is a must for me.

Of course jumping into color management and profiling is a tremendous leap for those who are on a tight budget. How each of us justifies where we are is up to us . .
