A bit long indoors but my baseline would be manual mode, iso400, aV=f5.6 or f6.3, shutter between 1/100 to 1/200th, 550ex bounced against ceiling with +1/3 or +2/3 flash exposure compensation.

Good luck,
-Ralph

Outdoors is much simpler- I usually just put it in aperture (Av) mode and set to f8 and iso200 in bright sunlight. If the lighting is bad or you want to freeze motion, put it to the widest apertur (between f4 - f5.6) and increase the iso to 400 or even 800 to get a faster shutter speed.
Good luck,
-Ralph
