How many picture do you get on best quality with the supplied battery full chardeged do you get with the FZ1O for 126mb and also 256mb.

I want to know also would one battery be suffient enough for 256mb and maybe 512mb?

All depends on how much you leave the camera on. If you just turn it on, take 10 or so pictures in quick succession and then turn it off. Then you could take a lot of pictures, perhaps 150 (enough to fill a 256MB on the highest quality). But if you are going to leave the camera on most of the time, and take pictures every now and then, then expect maybe 75 or so.

I recently did a days worth of shoting of a bicycle race, I left it on for much longer than I needed. One battery got me 100 pictures (well, I changed batterys about 80 pictures in, but I still had juice left in it. I Just need to make sure it didn't die on me during the final sprints to the finish).

On opening day of ball season I took 308 pics using my 256Mb card and only one battery charge. I used the EVF almost exclusively and had to transfer images 2 or 3 times to the laptop while at the park. I still had enough battery power to take several pics the next morning before the battery icon began to blink red.

My opinion, a second battery could be useful, but not nearly as much as several extra SD cards.

Typically I have been getting good life out of my FZ10 batteries. Usually well over 100 pics per battery and it seems that each brand I use (I own 3 different brands) gets more or less pics. Obviously using the LCD/ zoom and other parameters over the EV will cut your available power substantially.

I learned several years ago the hard way. At the time the hot cam besides the 2100 was the Canon Pro90IS. I had gotton the cam the day before and went on an outing upstate where I took over a hundred pics. As soon as the final stage of pics needed to be taken the battery went dead and the Canon's don't give you any warning at all.

Another reason why I will always prefer AA format over proprietary battery type.

Since then I have been a fanatic about extra batteries. I have 4 for my FZ10 and recommend that, regardless, you get an extra just "in case" and always keep it on standby when you go on an excursion.

Ray - Have you ever used all four? How many shots did you take?

right lads n ta..I was a wondering......so one battery per 256mb card should do and 2 batteries if I get a 512mb memory card. USING THE EVF!

I'd be willing to bet you could fill up a 512Mb card on one battery. As I mentioned earlier I got 308 pics on one battery charge using the EVF only, no flash, and of course turning the camera off when not using it.

As far as all four batteries are concerned the other day i was in New York City all day and most of the evening. I took almost 800 pics and only used a little over 3 of the batteries. The 4th is still in my FZ10 now and has a full status bar still. This was using the zoom constant and also the LCD was on almost the whole time, albeit a few breaks here and there. Not bad at all. I will say that the Lenmar battery shot over 300 pics this day.

I think it also depends on how you shoot.

If you shoot in P mode and auto focus perhaps you can fill a 256MB card on a battery.

I like to compose my pictures using spot mode and manual focus, thus I depress the shutter halfway lots. I might be lucky to get 100 shots doing this.

I have 3 batteries just in case....

I would rather have a spare battery and not need it, than need it and not have it!

I use a 512 card and have reached about 75% on it, transfered and cleared it, and then hit about 75% again and still had power to spare before recharging. So yes, you can fill up the card on one charge - it all depends on the duty cycle.

In the case above, I used it for my kids hockey games, two in one weekend. Lots of burst photos, no flash, not reviewing pictures on the screen, several minutes of 30fps video, and all done with the LCD instead of the EVF. In total, that was about 300 high res pics and about 7 minutes of video.

I do not have a second battery, but still plan to get one.
