Promaster Filters any good?

Today I spent way too much money on a way too big lens. I LOVE it!

Anyway, the dealer was out of daylight filters so I bought a polarizing lens (wanted to get one anyway).

The ONLY filters they carry is Promaster. Never heard of it ($89.99). It's multicoated circular polarizer, but it seems to have a strange, uneven sheen to it. Not glass like, but almost like there is a plastic coating on top of the glass?

Is this normal for circular polarizer filters? Seems like the one I had years ago for my Canon AE-1 was crystal clear.

Thanks for any suggestions on the Promaster brand.

Promaster ANYTHING is a bottom feeder at best. Stick to Hoya or B&W. If you've spent big money on a quality lens don't stop short and go cheap on the glass you put on front of it.

If you only use a polarizer once or twice a year it can be a tough sell.

I have a tiffen 77 and 67mm polarizer and a 53mm promaster and can't tell the difference.
size may make a difference but I'm not sure.

Promasters are rebadged budget end Hoyas I think. Not any where near a top quality filter.
