what's your walk a round lens?

Hi,

Please can you post some samples of this lens? The 35-350L or 28-300L looks interesting for airshows; wide enough for static aircraft and with enough reach for aircraft in flight. This would be useful in the UK where aircraft perform routines a long way from spectators.

As a walk about lens I would go for the 24-70L first. The weight is genuinely worth the effort. I have a 17-40L and miss the reach of the 24-70L when it is attached to my 300d. If the camera and lens feels too heavy just offer the opportunity of carrying a pro digital slr and lens to a family member then snatch it back if you want to take a photo! Alternatively try a well padded strap to spread the load.

Many thanks,

Martyn
So, I picked up the 35-350L and then heard complaints about
softness, weight, etc.

The past several weeks we have been taking trips, and I forced
myself to stay with a single lens (the 35-350)....and ended up very
surprised....

Its not as heavy, not as soft as I had been reading in the forum!
(I found that using Tv mode and keeping the shutter faster than
1/125 in daylight....no flash needed and the pictures are very
nice........ And no lens changes!

I'm beginning to like that lens a lot!
Just got the dreb with kit lens and already finding low light and
zoom a problem. im thinking about adding two lens-the 50 1.8 and
the 28-135 is. i seem to do a lot of low light shots-it seems like
an "is" would be the best way for a walk around zoom lens. am i
missing something?
