I decided to run the firmware upgrade tonight,

after completing it (I think) I have showing firmware # v753e-86-D01

I don't even plan on using pictbridge, just decided to run it in case there are any "under the hood" changes they do as part of it.....

Some have suggested that upgrade could interfere with the remote control operation (Pinetree / Cam2com) but others have since claimed it does not seem to.

I downloaded the 'pictbridge' firmware, but I have not installed it, since I print habitually from either this laptop, or Acorn Riscos desktops.

The firmware that my C-750 came with does everything I need. Some of the default settings were irritating though - the default flash setting in 'P' mode is 'SLOW', and the flash mode select button only works with the flash popped up. This I never suspected.

But now the camera does what I expect it to do, so I don't risc a firmware upload that can stuff the camera.

Hi, I am sorry to tell you that the firmware is only an update for printing directly to a printer with the same feature. I was going to upgrade my camera as well, but the guys at Olympus told me what I just told you. Since you did it already, I would not advise anyone to do it, due to the fact that it will not improve your camera in any way.

thanks, I kinda suspected as much. It (the firmware upgrade) was pretty uneventful, good step by step instructions. I felt it was worth a try.
