Does anyone know if Fuji will be dropping the price on the S2 soon? And if so how much? My threshold is at the $1500 price point. Thanks!

It's interesting how the price of that camera has fluctuated. Major factors seem to include strength of the dollar against the yen as well as availability.

I bought my S2 last fall from B&H when their price was $1799. Shortly thereafter, it became unavailable for several weeks, then when it came back, the price was $1999 or so and has been in that general range since.

My guess...I wouldn't look for the price to drop anytime soon.

Is none of these so called US-version resellers really a US-version?
http://www.pricescan.com/digiphoto/items/item135360.asp

I´d like to buy one, and actually I do not even care if it is grey or not, since the warranty is no good after the camera has been imported here in Europe. The local Fuji just charges too much for the camera (over 2450 USD without the EX-software that costs some 350 USD more here).

So does anybody know if any these 1200-1550 USD shops would really ship the item with all accessories??? I usually shop from BH but 1999,95 (or 1800 USD) is just too much since S3 is coming soon (I quess in 2-5 months). 1350 including shipping would be completely different thing, even I would sell/trade in the camera in 6 months for a S3 Pro upgrade.

Check http://www.resellerratings.com first. Those cheaper places have bad ratings.

I can gaurantee you that the places that are selling Fuji S2 Pros for $1500 will be ripping you off. There is virtually no possible way that you would get it for that price. They will require you to buy hundreds of $$$ worth of overpriced accessories, or the shipping will be $200, or it will be grey market (won't have EX software nor AC adapter), or more likely, a combination of the above.

I know the site. I just thought if someone would have good experience from a

The resellerratings.com is also to be watched carefully. Cheap shop http://starlightcameras.com is there rated for 6,40 points of 10,00. But all the positive ratings are from posters that have never posted anything else and almost pure honey (not even high quality fake with any not-good/not-bad reviews...). And the other reviews are the the truth. "Very bad. All the negative reviews are true. Their prices are only for bait and switch."

So I will forget the S2 and wait for S3. It may cost anything in between 1200-3000 USD, even 4000 USD if they at Fuji think that the quality is much higher than the competition. I think the most propable price range is around 1400-2000 USD when released. But this is pure speculation (and also some Belgian web shops have this for preorder for 2000 eur and 2200 eur including local VAT, and that is around the same as S2 now is - these could be bogus, I know... and propably are).

Yep, but there is no EX-software here in Europe either, nor any AC adapter. The AC adapter would not work here anyway, and US warranty is as good as no warranty, unless the camera dies so badly that it would be cheaper to send it tu USA from Europe with courier and back again than repair it here (i doubt this scenario).

But I do not trust these resellers, and will stick to BH and wait until S3 is available.

I ordered US version S2 for $1899 few days ago after giving up the Nikon D70, I can not wait any more for S3 since I have been waiting from S1 to now in last 3 years.

Life is short and my kids are growing every day, I need take those lovely picture of them now.

Great Picture came from me no matter Nikon or Canon

Hi Osku

I also live in Europe and I am surprised by what you wrote about
the non-validity of the USA warrenty in Europe. Let me paste what i
read on BHPhoto:

"A "USA" warrantied item is a manufacture's warranty that would be repaired by any manufacturer's authorized service facility worldwide if the item required in-warranty service. A "direct import" item would have to be returned to B&H Photo-Video Corp. in New York City if it required in-warranty attention. A resident of the USA may wish to make the buying decision based on price, since the cost of shipping to an American service center or to us should be about equal. A non-USA resident may want to consider the cost of returning the "direct import" item to us for warranty service, compared to the expense of buying the "USA warrantied" item and having warranty service available locally."

So, apparently they clame that a USA warrenty is actually worldwide valid.
Am I wrong? Do you have better information? I am interested in this
problem because i was also thinking about buying a camera from
BHPhoto, due to low cost compared to european prices.

Regards!

alessandro

I agree, but I will stick to film and Coolscan 4000ED for better results. S3 might change that for me, but I do not count on that. My F90X + Kodak E100G slide film is the best for my purposes right now.

Thanks, just had forgotten it. This surely works with B&H, I have full confidence with them. So if a SB800 USA is 350 and non USA 340, I now know to buy the USA-version! Witha a S3 Pro or such I would still first check local distributor that they will accept the receipt here for warranty repair and buy after that. BH is just superb:-)

Thanks!
