I purchased a DSC-F505V in the beginning of February 2001 and recently I've noticed a series of reoccurring problems with Hybrid LCD. On startup, the LCD will often hang and display a gray screen rather than the menu bar display or common blue screen. Often, a series of white vertical lines will appear and disappear as you switch between play / still / movie and the problem seems to increase as you rotate the lens after selecting a mode. There is a noticeable distoration on screen, however the camera still functions beautifully other than what i see on screen, the images produced are still crisp and clear without any visible artifacts. very strange...

I have also noticed the same A/V out problems experienced by other readers of this forum a couple of weeks ago, but thought little of it until the LCD started acting up. As I'm getting ready to send the camera off to Sony for repairs, I was just curious if anyone else has experienced similar problems. thanks.

Aaaargh! Search this forum or rec.photo.digital for "F505 nightmare" for more info. Good luck, post here with updates.

I hope to fair better with the Sony Service Center. I'll keep you updated.

I did finally convince the Consumer Affairs board person to promise that he would send a replacement camera, and about a week later a new F505 arrived. This was 42 days and three returns after I initially sent in my camera, which was about 18 days old at the time. Sony's engineers are great, their service leaves much to be desired. Again, good luck, and let us know how it goes.
