Feel Lucky? Canon 10D $909.00

Can you link the $1150 price? Thanks.
I saw this a few hours ago while searching for the 10D on Amazon's
site. As soon as I saw it was sold by "Willoughby's", I knew it had
to be either a) a scam or b) a mistake. Amazon hasn't had any
actual stock on this camera at all as far as I know, and
Willoughby's is selling as a z-shop. They're brand new, absolutely
no rating whatsoever, so whether or not you folks who ordered will
get anything remains to be seen.

I guess at worst you'll get your money back if something is fishy,
but you'll have to deal with Amazon's woefully lacking customer
service reps to do so. Good luck finding their 1-800 number too...
if you need it, search on Google.

I'd personally rather try Adorama's refurbed deal @ $1149... at
least that way you know you're getting a camera that works... gotta
be better than buying brand new and praying it doesn't have the
dreaded focus problem.

I've talked to Willoughby's this morning, and they stated they have an order for an "EOS 10-D" and there are no apparent problems with the order [as of yet, anyway]. Also, they stated thier re-stocking fee wont apply if the wrong item is shipped or if you simply do not open the item. So...looks good so far!

introduced at PMA, i don't think 10D drops that much . I see that people are still looking for 10D even though many claim that 10D discontinued(?????). No doubt that 10D is a good camera for amateur like me....

anyway, if you see it below 1,000 ....by any mean, get it as long as it's a new camera....good luck

Well, I got in on the first orders last night...Even my confirmation email stated 10D, however, other posts on other boards state that folks who have talked to amazon state that amazon WILL make it right and honor the price, however, the actual seller states that it is a mistake and the cancellation emails are on the way...

There's also the "meeting of the minds" requirement for a valid contract. It could still be argued that, with an automated order processing system, there was not an actual "meeting of the minds" -- especially in a situation where it is patently obvious that there is a pricing mistake.

I vaguely remember a civil case from an old Business Law class in college which had to do with a coin dealer mistakenly advertising some valuable coin for significantly less than it's value and actually going through with the sale. They later realized their error and went back to the buyer to cancel the transaction and it all ended up in court.

The case hinged on whether the customer knew the pricing mistake was a mistake -- the opinions held that the kid wouldn't have known and thus the sale was not reversed, but that had the buyer been someone who would have known they were buying something for far less than its actual value the sale would have been reversed by the court.
The case really hinges on whether the CC has been charged or not.

To lews point , I think most people Knew is was a pricing mistake as most of the sales were created through web exposure.

Good article. Printed ads usually have a disclaimer that the store is not responsible for typos. I suspect soon web sites will start putting such disclaimers up if not already there.

Go to http://www.amazon.com scroll to the bottom of the page and click on "Conditions of Use".

I find this part quite interesting: "Please note that this policy applies only to products sold and shipped by Amazon.com. Your purchases from third-party sellers using Amazon.com Payments are charged at the time you place your order, and third-party sellers may follow different policies in the event of a mispriced item."
