Does anybody know if there is a difference between Formatting a CF card and using the 'erase - all' command to delete all the images from a card? Is one method better than the other?

When I first got the camera I used erase all. That took forever.

Then I just started formatting the card, take just a few seconds.

Reformatting the card should probally be better. If anything is starting to go bad with the card, it is more likely to show you during the format process.

If you have locked or protected any images using the menu's protect setting, erasing the card will not erase those images, but formatting will erase them.

Formatting is preferred to erase all. It does a bettter job of cleanup. Should do it everytime you want to erase images.
