cp950, unable to upload v1.3 firmware.

I downloaded v1.3 firmware to my computer and that worked fine but I am unable
to upload to my camera.
I get A message "camera not connected"

I connect one end of the serial cable to the camera and the other end to the computers
serial port! (can't imagine how I could blunder that!!)

The camera is currently running v1.0 and the latest version is supposed to fix the
focus problems I am having.

Make sure that serial port is active. Quite often serial ports are turned 'off' in the BIOS setup. You didn't say, but assuming you are running Windows 95/98 go into 'My Computer', 'Control Panel', and then 'System' and check the setting of the serial port. In the section where you can set it for 'read ahead' and such back both setting off to the left so there is no read ahead at all.

If you are able to copy pictures from your camera to your computer using nikon view, your serial cable is ok.
Make sure your camera is selected to a-rec when you run the 1,3 software.

Rick, in case you are using a mac, you may hve luck if you turn off the appletalk. I found the same situation of not being able to upload the firmware upgrade until I turned off the appletalk. good luck
