Best place to get a 1D MKII?

Planning to stay in LA for 2 days in May, and I would like to buy a 70-200IS, a camera (10D or 1D2) and some accessories, maybe from Canoga.

Do you think is it possible to contact them in advance to order by email from them and when I will be there I pick up the goods and pay?

Could you send me Greg's email address?

Thanks

I am wondering where is a good place to get on the list for a 1D
Mark II? I am looking for a store that will likely get a decent
supply to meet demand, and be competitive with the prices of the
time. Any advice about stores you have used and had good
experiences with would be great.

You'd pay sales tax if you bought it in the store. That's 8.25%-8.75% in California, depending on the county and city.

On a $4000 camera, why spend an extra $330 instead of $40 shipping you don't have to.

I live in Hungary. If I order I pay 30-40% customs, VAT, shipping. I will be in the USA for two weeks on a fly&drive tour (in different hotels). The european prices are higher.

I will stay in LA 2 days, so my only chance to order by mail (to reserve the camera and lens) and buy there.

If you have a better idea, I'd appreciate to tell me.

Thanks

All you have to do is have the unit shipped out of state, can be to a hotel or whatever as long as its a different state. Then you pay no tax. You can even go in the store and pay 1st. There are a few exceptions to this rule, but not with Canoga Camera or B&H in NY.

Hope this makes sense.
