I need some capture software help.

Last weekend I shot an event that required me to frequently change file names and save file to different folders while I was shooting. It was kind of a "Memory Mates" thing, but I only had 30 seconds or so between each shot.

I shot the event with my D100 tethered to my laptop using the Nikon Capture software 3. The whole process was hugely ungainly.

Nikon Capture 3 requires too many clicks between each shot to change file name and folder information.

I will be shooting similar events this weekend and next and am very interested in other programs which allow me to shoot tethered to my laptop. Anyone have any suggestions?

Eric,

Nikon Capture requires just 3 clicks from the Capture Control to enter a custom IPTC caption or keyword: Dowload Options/IPTC Information/ Ok. Do you really have to put the images each into their own folder? It seems that you could do this quickly after the session, if you have the filenames reflect the category.

Another option would be to sort & rename after the shoot, using the MB-100 to voice-tag each new image. These travel with the image in NV, so you could easily play the tag and rename/file accordingly.

You can also format the camera for different shooting folders, and switch between them on-the-fly.

Man, I'd rather do all this after the shoot, then to have to worry about getting 'stuck' in software and miss a shot.... Good luck,

Chris

Unfortunatly the images from this shoot will be printed on the fly. So I need to be able to drop them into their individual folders, so that the printer, in another building, can printed.
