I think I've narrowed my choices down to two. What camera would you buy and why? The Canon G5 or the Fuji S7000?

I'd get the s7000 over the G5. I like its pictures better, and have never been a fan of the G-series. I don't like the shape of them too.

But I would have the Sony 828 in the mix still, as I don't see why it would be excluded.

It gets bad press because of certain things, but ALL these cameras have cons. You take the good and the bad. Shoot, DSLRs have cons too. A big con is the price. Not so much the camera body cost, but the lens cost added to the body cost. I really don't see why a 10D, D100, SD10, or -ist should be $1500 or more for a body.

S7000!! and yes I would take the S7000 over the 828 for several reasons.

But, my reasons are of no importance! You have to decide based on your wants and needs and what types of photos you take.

Depends on what you want.

The F S7000 is a handful but probably beats the Canon on features.

The Canon is more a compact so if you want something smaller then the way to go.

I really don't like Fuji's interpoaltion techniques and find the images noisier than the G5.

The G5 has nicer optics and I do like the IR remote on the G5..

However, some would say the Canon has better image quailty.

I own neither so not biased but have read a lot of users comments on both.

Thats a hard one. I have a Fuji S602 as a second camera and i've never found anything wrong with it really, i was considering the G3 when i bought it.

I'd go try them out. I've heard good and bad things about the image quality of both cameras. I like the G5 though. Looks very nice.

I've been looking at all the sample shots, and if I'm not really going to produce anything over 8x10 am I better off saving 75 bucks by going with the G5??

I would suggest going to a store that sells both digital cameras, handle them both, try them out and buy the one that you feel most comfortable with. Both are good digital cameras. I would recommend buying from a place with a good return policy. Then after a week using the camera at home, if for some reason you don't like it, return it and get the other digital camera. No one can decide which digital camera is best for you, only you can do that. Choose, decide, buy, and enjoy your new digital camera.
