As a very happy owner of an Epson 1200, it suddenly occured to me that that the pages I was printing out were "suitable for framing". I took a trip to a few local "Frame stores" (aaron brothers, prints plus, etc...) and quickly realized that buying frames for all of the wonderful prints I was generating would soon become quite expensive. My instinct told me that I might find better deals on the internet...

So...does anyone know of any good frame stores on the internet??

Thanks,

Andy

:)

I work in a photo retail group (=sell a lot of frames) : i've yet tried to find out opportunities on frames in the internet, but nothing really valuable is there. I saw somes sites, but it is very hard to evaluate a frame just by thumbnails (need to SEE it nearer).

To have good prices in a store, if you need many frames, buy them "one shot", you should have much better prices.

ps : i'm not selling frames on the internet ;-)

Does anyone know if framing reduces the amount of fading on pictures created by inkjet printers?
thanks... Elizabeth

Aaron Brothers is a good place to buy frames. They usually have a 40-50% off coupons on their website that you can print and take to the store. Also, there is a 1 cent sale coming July 1st -- buy one and get the 2nd one of equal or lesser value for 1 cent.

Does anyone know of a good deal on frames in the UK?. Pete

I found a better deal at my local framer than on the internet. These are alumaframes (Made by Neilsen), double matted, foamcore back, and glass. Example prices: 11x14 (8x10) $15, 12x16 (8x12) $21. These are quality frames - much better than what you get at Walmart. I'm also having them make some larger custom sizes for me.

I'm talking with the shop making them available online as I own a hosting company with ecommerce capability.

http://www.quadroframes.com - These are clip type frames and a very quick solution for mounting some prints.

Hey all,

I've been doing the math on all the printing / framing lately too and decided it's going to get expensive quick. Plus, I'm going to run out of wall real-estate pretty quick. I'd always liked the idea of having a digital picture frame, but the prices were outragous. So I started scrounging the net for ideas.

I started here:

http://www.applefritter.com/hacks/duodigitalframe/

I had an old 12" TFT laptop gatherig dust in the closet, loaded win98Lite on it, disassembled and reorganized the parts. Went to my local fame shop for a clearance 11x14 frame & matt ($20), then headed to the hardware store for some trim and hinges and built a small enclosure for the back. I assembled all my pats, loaded my pictures and used some sceensaver software to change the picture every 5 mintes. I left the notebook LAN enabled so I can push / pull pictures across my home network.

Here's the finished product:

If anyone wants to see the "guts" I'll crack it open and take some more pics.

Seen this implemented before as an off-the-shelf product but the cost was a bit high. I never thought about using an old laptop like that, good idea! :)

Yes, please crack it open!

Try http://www.misterart.com . I purchase Nielson metal frames from them for about $15 with matte and glass.
