Looks great! Did you do any post-processing on the photo?
Thanks. Very little as the S400 usually handles exposure quite well. I did adjust Levels to bring it up a bit and did a bit of USM. Probably was my fault for setting EC to -2/3. Rest of settings were ISO 50 -- F10 -- 1/500s -- WB = Cloudy -- Neutral Colour

Great shot!!!!!!!
Thanks. Shots like this are harder to do without a swiveling LCD but obviously still doable. I pointed the centre AF square at the middle of the ball. If I had to take another shot I may have tried focusing on the letters to the right of the ball (Top-Flite) and then recomposed.
Was out playing golf this afternoon (somewhere in eastern Ontario).
The recent rains and mild temps have melted most of the snow. Took
this shot in Macro mode with the S400, my take anywhere camera.

Thanks. I should clarify. By neutral I meant colour effects was turned off so I was using the cameras default colour setting. The default colour setting already produces nice rich colours. There is another colour setting called Neutral (wasn't referring to this setting) which some use for indoor flash shots (lessens orange/red tones on some skin types when flash is used indoors under certain lighting conditions).

I have used Vivid mode on occasion to give an extra colour boost to ceratin scenes (I suppose you can also choose to do this in post processing instead). However, I have found that Vivid mode can wash out detail (especially shadow detail) if the colour of the object is very dark (black for instance) like you find at the centre of some flowers or maybe someone in silhouette.

Thanks for the nice comment. I appreciate it. I can't say enough about the S400 (G3 is just a very much upgraded S400 I think) as it makes it so easy to take nice shots. I enjoyed visiting your gallery too and you have some nice artistic images in there.

And congratulations for getting down on your knees (and getting up)
to make that one! Great sharp shot!
Heheheh. Thanks. I forgot whether I was squatting or kneeling but it did take a few shots for me to get it right. Thank goodness for the nice clear S400 LCD (one of the best IMHO) as it was hard to see where the centre AF point was when the camera was down there.

I always thought this was a cool shot (taken with the G3):

Where do you find these gorgeous dark squirrels? I've never seen
that color before.
These are located up here in eastern Ontario, Canada. We get a variety up here including gray ones.

Oh, you're fortunate. Have you been there in the Spring before? I would like to see Cape Breton and particulary the Cabot Trail in each of the seasonal settings. I really enjoy the simple beauty of the area.

Thanks. I took the Canon G2 and S400 with me to Cape Breton. I think I mainly used "P" or "Av" mode on the G2 (can't recall exactly now).

Thanks, that does explain it. The colours seemed too intense for "neutral" setting. I have been using the default setting and the colour seems just fine. My understanding was that "neutral "toned the saturation down a bit. And the grass in your photo is so rich looking it doesn't look at all toned down.

I was up in Sept. have a lady friend that lives there, if things work out , will be moving up. Was told that the black flies are bad till about the end of may when it starts warming up. Her brother is a lobster fisherman in Inverness, their season for fishing lobster is May and june.

Forgot to say that she lives in a log house on a mountain overlooking the ocean, heat with wood, most do that live on the mountains, a few have pellet stoves.
