Have you ever had one of those days, when photos seem to just JUMP out at you?! I set out at 5am this morning for Everglades National Park to try out my new 17-40L and 100-400L lens. Usually when I go "hunting" for pictures, they are often hard to come by, with my best shots coming "out of the blue..." But it was a great morning, and I am VERY happy with some of my images and the performance of the lenses.

Here's the sunrise I caught, and I'd love for you to see the rest of the images from today. Feel free to see both pages of my "Everglades" Pbase gallery (see link in signature) for today's shoot, and all critique and comments are welcome. Happy Holidays All!

Great shots! Where abouts did you go for these pics. I'm also located here in south FL and am looking for some great spots within a reasonable drive.

Thanks,
Bryon

Please, for the love of God, tell me what settings you used to get the sun to come out like that. Any filters? EXIF?

Thanks

Craig

I have no regrets. Enemies are another story.

These pics were shot in various places along the main road leading from the entrance to the Everglades National Park (in Homestead, FLA) down to Flamingo (very tip of Florida penninsula). There's a bunch of lakes scattered along the main (and only) road, so I just lake-hopped looking for shots. Some of the leaf/boardwalk as well as some of the up-close birds were shot at "Anhinga Trail," which is pretty close to the entrance. A bird photographers dream!

Sorry but I just joined PBase and am still learning how to post info w/my pics. I don't really see how to transfer EXIF, unless it's just manually inputing the data (blech, how tedious)...Either way, regarding the sunrise pics, I assure you there wasn't much trick to it. Mother nature did all the work. I used the 100-400L IS on a tripod (only time I didn't hand-hold all day), I think 200 speed and used the DR's remote shutter release. The only "filter" was a Hoya UV(0). The pics were just resized and USM'ed a bit, but pretty much that's how the sunrise looked. I shot about 10 pics as the sun rose, and got 5 pretty good ones in the bunch.

Thanks again for the nice comments! I'm still tingling over my shoot hehe...Cheers all,

ja
