You shouldn't need a USB driver for either 2000 or XP, USB support is built in. For Win98 you would need a driver. Any USB device plugged into a 2000 or XP machine should show up as a drive in Windows Explorer. (Although, if you install the Canon software, the 300D won't show up any more, and you will have to use ZoomBrowser or the Canon FileViewer utility to access your images.)

Important note: switch your camera to Communication: 'PTP' mode,
otherwise XP will not see it.
