The ginger cat I posted higher up does the same - most often in the garden, he does so like to sun his belly. He's a rescue cat and been with us a bit over a year now - the first time he did that in the spring I laughed so hard I was nearly sick - in fact I laughed so much I forgot to take a photo and he was so indignant at me laughing he got up and turned his back to me. He falls asleep like that with his head back, catching the rays under his chin as well!

None of my other cats have ever done it. He spends a lot of time in that position washing his belly and back legs, to the point of irritation as he will insist of chewing noisily.

I didn't name him... we got him in California 16 years ago, from a family that was giving them away... a little girl (about 4-5 at the time)came up and wanted us to take him because he was the runt of the litter. She wanted us to promise that we would not change his name... When I asked her what his name was, she said Batman. How could I change it? He has the mask.

Here are two of my Egyptian Mau cats: Calista, the silver one, and Rabbit, the black one. The third one is our "gypsy" cat, Pikey (which stands for Irish travellers). The picture was taken with the kit lense days after I got my camera.

Here's Pikey again, yawning - pic taken with the 50mm F1.8 lense
