A1 - The way to the old city (pic)

Hi Ettore !
What do you think about?
Very nice pic and colors. Would love to live there ;=)

while loading to pbase it shows "pict0096_modified" in the bottom area of the Internet Explorer.
I supposed you made some enhancements ?
Would you mind uploading the original pic ?

How do you feel the A1 gives the photos ? I mean have you to adjust all of them, some of them ? Are the untouched photos OK ? Which compression setup do you use (or Raw?)?
Thanks for your answer,
Michel.

Ciao Ettore,

A beautiful pic, to be short and simple,...but shooting so called "roofs" always makes a photo to become an interesting scenic shot incomparable to any of the other kinds of photographs, coz its a unique way of showing cityscapes.

We all know that the "Rule of Thirds" is a general and basic guideline in photography by way of putting the main subject off-center, yet, the "roofs" style of pics are something much more different..here there is no way to put anything either out of center, or any other thing in-the -center coz everything is in balance with each other, yet the cavalcade of a wealth of small objects makes the composition of the photo become alive.

Regarding the technical side of the shot, based on EXIF info provided, I think the aperture value of f5 has given you a good chance to control the overall sharpness of everything near and far, i.e. the wide DOF is OK, while other settings are of course much subjective, like WB set to daylight...

And this is what you could have proudly achieved with your great photo of the old city of Bergamo this time. Grazie molto!

But, Ettore....how about developing your nice thread into a "roofs" shot sharing thread, where I will immediately join in with a panoramic shot of roofs taken from a hill at the town of Pecs located in the southern part of Hungary:

How is it?

Cheers, Feri

Here you can find the original (I saved for the web with Photoshop...so the quality is poor) but you can see the differences with the other pic that has been modified a little (correct!). I touched curves with photoshop only a little in order to make the pic more "clear" as you see.

original:

modified:
http://www.pbase.com/image/23650772

The quality of the shot: jpg fine quality RGB normal. Not the best quality.
I not often modify my pics.
Bye

Thank you! Your pic also is very good! Excuse me but I'm not very good in english language so I don't understand very good what "roofs" means. Can you explain in other words?

Excuse me also if this post is short but now I go to sleep...it's late! Tomorrow we could discuss about these pics if you want! ok?
Bye!

Ettore,

The meaning of roof is:

a protective covering that covers or forms the top of a building

In English: roof
In Italian: tetto

OK, see you tomorrow! ;-)

Buona notte!

Ferenc,

Can you please post the settings that you used in your photograph. I am a newbie hobbyist, and would appreciate any tips. I have recently purchased the A1, and I am still unable to achieve the level of clarity and depth that many of the more experienced users post.

Thank you for your answer. Another (positive) parameter to make my decision about the A1,...
Michel.

It seems a good work with colours but I notice strange dark areas.

Something like that ? (Quick and dirty removing of the haze
(opacita) +unsharp mask at the top). Not sure the haze must be
removed so much, and exagerated unsharp mask is rather for viewing
at Pbase "Large" size.

By the way was the haze really like that, or do you think it
appears more on the picture than in the real life ?
Michel.
