Black and White photos

No, you can't take them on the camera, but you can convert them in photoshop to B&W. If you do a search on Black and White (or B&W) you will find several threads about how to do it. I found a free program to download on one of these threads.

Is there a way to take B/W photos on Canon EOS-10D?

Nope,

The best approach is to use Photoshop (PS) or something similar. I use PS regularly to do just that.

I load the image in PS and convert it from RGB to LAB, select only the Lightness channel and select Grayscale from the menu.

Then do Level, curves, etc. You now have a great BW image!

Duke and Sheila have answered you as for the 10D.

However, it should be said that there is no advantage to shooting B&W in cameras that can shoot B&W. All digicams that do shoot B&W save the files as RGB files anyway and therefore the file sizes are no smaller than full color files. You are always better off converting on your computer, this way you always have the option of printing the image in color. But you cant make a color image from an image shot as B&W.

May I also suggest that you look at using Fred Miranda's black and white actions - http://www.fredmiranda.com and go the Software section. They can only be used for Photoshop 6 and up but they save a lot of time in Photoshop. I also use his actions for sharpening for the same reason.

Cheers
