It's not supposed to arrive until Oct 3rd so I'm hoping it lands today.

I still can't believe I am getting this lens at all let alone for this deal. I'm upgrading my glass from the cheapo stuff (50 1.8, 28-80 3.5-4.5 and 70-300 5.6-6.5) to my first L.

I rented it a few months ago and knew I would save until I could afford it at $1,700, I was that impressed. Getting it for less than the non IS version is like I say hard to believe until I hold it.

I ordered it 9/19 at 5:30 PST. I think I was one of the last people on the list of the initial 40 lenses that got shipped first. What is funny is I saw the original post right after it was posted and it took me a few hours for the deal to sink in my thick head. Right before I left work it hit me that I had nothing to lose by ordering and didn't expect it would come through when I placed it but I am sure glad I did!

Me and this lense are going to get along JUST fine.

It was kind of late in the day when she said she was trying to find out info, so I'm assuming the folks she needed to hear from went off shift shortly after that. She worked late yesterday (according to her voice mail), so I assume also that she gets in to work late today.

My order 9/24 order still shows an estimated ship date of 10/6, for what that's worth.
