I just got back from the fair and am so-o-o-o excited...

Congratulations!

I was through Doddridge County this week, have you ever been to Valley Falls State Park. I got some nice shots there on Tuesday. Thanks for you post about the fair. Every year when I go to the Washington County Fair (Ohio) I see the photos and say that I should enter next year, but then next year comes and I forget until its to late. But your post is a wake up call for me to try it this year.
Thanks for the post!!

P.S. West Virginia is a beautiful State!!

as long as I pay the entry fee, and am an amateur (less than half my income from photography...no problem). It's not a "juried" event, only judged.

As it turned out, most of the photos came from outside of our county. Maybe they'll be happy the local county was well represented?

BTW, I'm curious, you aren't Mandy, are you? ...one of my favorite actors!
I won six ribbons! 2-1st, 3-2nd, 1-3rd.

Here is the link if you'd like to see which ones:

wow, you are a relatively close neighbor.

No, we have been staying right here, exploring our "holler" and enjoying our very own "wild and wonderful" part of this beautiful state.

You may be interested to know that several entries belonged to a woman from Cleveland. I believe she won a few ribbons...scenery and still life categories are what I remember.

So, don't forget to do it this time, and show us your entries.
Congratulations!

That is quite an accomplishment. The photos were all beautiful (even the ones that didn't get ribbons). Congratulations!

I just think it is so neat, how far we've come in a few short years, that you can now control the whole process. You not only conceive and compose the picture, but you capture the image and then print it yourself. And if you feel like it, you can even improve the image with your pc. And then, you take your photos to the fair and kick butt, probably beating out images captured on film. And THEN, you share your photos with friends all over the planet here at dpreview. I wonder how many people realize that a mere 7 or 8 years ago, none of this was possible. You've come a long way, baby.

after a nights sleep (?) my husband in his inimitable way has brought be back to earth...

reminding me of the Delaware State diving championship he won many years ago...the only one in his classification! LOL
Congratulations and well deserved too. They all looked like first
place entries to me. The competition must have been fearce.

Thanks

a whole new world and perspective has opened up.

BTW, most of the competition appeared to be film photography.

PS: I'm still laughing :)
