2.5X lens for G2?

I did a search in this group and did not find anything but does anyone know how this lens would perform on a G2?

I have no experience with this lens but I do have the Canon telephoto lens (only 1.5x) and have been generally quite pleased. I do wish it had a higher magnification, though. So, I would be interested to see what replies you get.

I bought one from 47th Street Photo on eBay w/ identical specs and looks last year. Even though the box and the lens both say "2.5X", it is actually a 1.5X (I counted pixels of an object w/ or w/o the lens) because this manufacturer rated the magnification by area and NOT by focal length. The optical quality is extremely poor with major distortion beyond center 1/3. Vignetting is present at any zoom level other than max tele. The center 1/3 of picture does appear to be sharp. I was hoping that if it didn't work w/ my G2, I could still use it for my 8mm Sony Camcorder which also has 37mm thread. It really was useless for both.
