I used to spend many hours lurking and sometimes posting an opinion in this forum. Then the 10D came along and I bought one as soon as I could back on the 1st of april. Since then I have spent less and less time on this forum because It is no longer a place to get and share digital camera help. I am so sick of people complaining about the 10D. I myself have one that focues dead on when I use it correctly with the right exposuse, iso and functions set. It has produced many wonderful pictures and many not so because I did something wrong, just like what used to happen with my Canon A1 film camera.

What really gets me is people who are bashing the 10D forget that just a few years ago a camera with all the capabilties of the 10D would cost at least twice as much and this is the point that really irks me. Please return or don't buy one at all or for that matter get the Nikon D100 or one of the other competitors.

All of you whinning posters have to realize you are not buying a $5000 dollar camera but instead a very good $1500 camera that far exceeds anything before it in that price range. I for one am thrilled with how it performs. I don't know how to put this nicely. The whinners without a real faulty camera, are a bunch of idiots who don't want to take the time or put in the effort to learn how to properly use a high tech camera. They seem to want to cry and complain here and it makes me sick because I can no longer come here and learn.

So to conclude, it's only a $1500 dollar camera and in many cases cost less than the lens sitting on it so Please, Please stop the constant never ending complaining and either sell it or skip it so those who really have one and want to learn how to get the best out of it can return to this forum.

what many would have liked to say. Maybe a whiners forum or crying room would be appropriate. :)

Bashing is one thing, and I'm in full agreement with you there. By definition, "bashing" means: "To engage in harsh, accusatory, threatening criticism" and there certainly has been such activity here, mostly generated by overly emotional types or outright trolls.

However, if you are talking about those who share their personal findings or problems with the forum and are disappointed or disgruntled by the performance of their new $1,500 dSLR, the I couldn't disagree more. If there is a problem it is incumbent upon us to expose it in an effort to alert others that there is an issue and they need to be made aware of it in a reasonable manner.

So, it is obvious that a measured response is required under such circumstances, not to falsely accuse or to stir up trouble, but rather to make people aware and perhaps get some help in seeking appropriate redress.

Don,

I myself do not have any problems with the AF on the 10D.Nevertheless,others do. Whether in any particular case it is user error, an individual fault or a systemic fault on the model is beside the point.
This forum is for people to raise technical issues and air concerns.
If you do not have them, fine.

Doubtless your own particular cconcerns and interests are more important to you, but this should not determine other people's right to have their own concerns and issues.

We seem to have as many theads from people who wish to determine what others should do as we have threads about cameras.

This in my view clogs up the forum much more than the threads you are complaining about.
Thanks.

Like others have said, this forum is the Canon SLR forum, not the Canon Photography forum or Canon Picture Display forum, nor the Canon Lighting forum, and now not even the Canon Lens forum. This is the right place for people to air their concerns. Yes, they are old and annoying, but it is the right place. If you don't like it, don't open the thread.

Don,

I am fairly new to this forum and I also find it annoying to have to go through so many complaint posts, including ones like this, to get good information about Canon equipment. Other dpreview forums aren't near as bad as this one.

I enjoy my 10d very much and so far have had only minor problems. It is because I enjoy it so much that I have empathy for those with real problems who aren't getting the same satisfaction. I find the attitude "mine works so whats the problem" incongruous, and I think it is unfair to lump all of the issue/problem posters together as amatuer, whinning idiots like you have. I also can't accept the statement that a $1500 camera (not including lens) that can't take clear pictures is acceptable because it is so cheap.

Sure some of the focus issue posts are from people who are cluelesss or have an agenda, but I don't think it is the majority. But so are the opposite ones complaining about whinners or with the attitude that Canon is perfect so the end user must be an idiot. A combination of both of these types of posts have polarized this group, and it will take both sides, and probably a lot of time, to mellow out before things improve.

Its too bad that these inflamatory posts, from both sides, get more responses than real issues and questrions - and I include as inflamatory posts like this that catagorize anyone claiming a focus problem a technically challenged idiot. Maybe I should have restrained from commenting, soas not to perpetuate these kind of threads, but I would sure like to see some common sense and for all of this bickering to end.

'No Limitation is Limitation'

What is the forum for?
We can all express our opinion.
Complaining of the product quality is nothing to do with its price.
But it just goes on and on. The people who have a problem express their disappointment and anger and tend to spread their "conclusions" to encompass the whole line. If anyone posts that they disagree with this because they are not having those problems, that usually starts the ball rolling and it rolls downhill. People who are angry don't want to hear that. And if you have a problem but aren't angry, don't worry because there's people here who'll be angry for you and take up for you.

I did not expect everyone to agree with me. I just had an opinion
and expressed it and I stick by it.
Don.
There's no problem about you expressing your opinion. Others have expressed the same opinion before.
That's just as repitious as the threads you are complaining about.

It just seems a bit like you havve a problem with other people expressing their opinion here.
