for two years now i'm into digital photography - all sony. i've been thru the p3, p5, p9, p10 and v1. i'm just an amateur... so why am i posting? i've just listed my v1 on ebay and bought the f717 after all of the amazing images and experiences i've read about here on this forum. the v1 is a great camera but as long as i'm not carrying around a tiny little thing like the p10, i'm going to have the best sony has to offer and that imo is the 717. looking forward to monday when i get my new toy!

oh and i'm also buying (after the v1 sells) a p10 to have as a tiny, pocketable, p&s camera.

thank you all for your valuable input, i really appreciate this forum.

Have you ever heard anything about the P72? I'm interested in possibly buying that one. Any input would be appreciated!

no, sorry i haven't. tho if you want a tiny cam then why not splurge and get the best small one sony makes, the p10? i used that one and liked it. i'm going to buy a p10 to have a 'pocket cam' when i don't want to take the 717 somewhere.

..... see, I'm a student. The P72 is gonna seriosuly push my budget, let alone if I jump the price up $200! ;) I would love to follow your advice, but right about now I jst can't afford it. Thanks for the tip anyways though!

Any reason you are switching?

I really want a V1 but I cannot see giving up my F717. They each have their own niche and almost should be sold together as a set.

both take great pictures. the 717 is just a better "feel" in my hand. feels like my film slr. and, when you add a flash, such as the f32x on the v1, that definitely gets top heavy and a bit unweildy for me. i know others have other personal expericence so this is just mine.

my v1 is going out to a new excited buyer today. if i decide i need a truly pocketable camera for those times i don't want the 717 on my neck, i'll buy the p10.
