Better than the A70?!

I don't have either but from what 'ive seen. I don't think they look better. They may do good close-up. Didn't have enough courage to open up the one of the man. To large. lol I wouldn't buy a Panasonic over a Canon. Especially when the pictures don't look much if any at all better.
Take a look at these images.

The Panasonic doesn't have many features but the images seem
noticeably better than those from the A70 (and every other 3MP
camera!).

Seriously?!

I own the A70 and its a great camera but it doesn't seem to be able to resolve detail as well as the Panasonic and I've seen hundreds of images from the A70.

Panasonic claim the new image processing in the LC33 processing results in a 50% improvement in diagonal resolution and its looks like they may be right.

Personally, I prefer the features. As a amature user who shoots only for enjoyment, half of the fun is being a photographer and learning the equipment. Sometimes I just put my a70 in shutter priority or apature priority and just shoot away. There is something fulfilling about getting a really good shot that was done in full manual mode. Having upgraded from the a40, I know that sometimes the camera cannot do what what it is suposed to do and there is a shot that you just cannot get (refering to auto mode etc.). All the features and manual control will allow you to get that shot, and knowing how to get it is part of the fun for me.

I agree with you as I would have taken the A70 over the Panasonic. However it would have been nice if the A70 gave top notch image quality as well (or if Panasonic had manual controls...).

Maybe the A80 or A90 will fix this!

Probablly true. I think the image quality is very good though, even if the panasonic is a little better. Considering the capabilities of this camera and the image quality it has, I think it is quite an acomplishment on canons part considering the 300$ price tag. Also, considering office max was substituting it for another camera that they were out of, and I got the manager to give me an additional 50$ discount, And I got it, a 128mb cf, and a card reader for 200$ US, this is BY FAR, the best camera I could possibly hope to get for the price (it almost makes me feel cheated for paying 300$ for the a60 six months earlier).

These things are out of stock every where because it is a great camera for the money. I can live with the fact that a few are defective (I had to return the first one and almost could't find one to exchange it for). THe second one works sweet!!!!!
