Got a G1, want a Microdrive. I am visiting Toronto (from London) in a week or two and wonder whether prices are keener there?

Alternatively, how many C$ can I expect to pay for 64Mb or 128Mb Compact Flash cards in Canada?

Regards to all for New Year

Hi, Danny.

Here are three shops that will likely have a Microdrive ready for you:

[Downtown]
  • Henry's
  • Vistek (Notice the top-level domain, ".ca")
(These two shops are within 15 minutes walking distance of each other. Or you might want to take the street car since the temperature is way below freezing, -30 degrees celcius [including windchill] today.)

[North York]
  • Merkle Camera
I too have been looking at a Microdrive for my S10. The price on the 340 MB (CAD $450 to $500) version is taking a dive since the 1 GB version is bound to replace it.

Hope you have a nice visit.

The prices in Canada are still very high, if you are coming all the way from London, I would go visit Niagra Falls, about an hour from toronto, cross the border, the prices are way cheaper in the U.S. even with the exchange, otherwise the only way to get it cheaper is mail order, cheapest one in Canada if you have reletives is http://www.timasci.com/index.htm

don't order from U.S. and have sent to Canada you nailed by GST custums and brokerage fee. good luck enjoy TO.

Danny,

I was just at some downtown Toronto camera stores, and ALT Camera Exchange has the 340MB MicroDrive for $429, but was willing to sell at $400. I did not see any MicroDrives at Henry's. A third store, Canada Camera or something, has the 340MB MicroDrive at $499, but will sell at $450. All these three stores are right beside each other, on Queen street, one block east of Yonge. Vistek, which I did not go to, is a little further east...

You can check out their web sites for estimate pricing:
