I was away on a trip and my D100 just died. I could take pictures in P mode but couldn't view them on the LCD screen or make any exposure adjustments, it simply turned into an all automatic point and shoot. Couldn't change any settings in A, S or M mode either. Also couldn't bring up the menu on the LCD screen. I tried changing lenses, removing the battery, was even ready to rub a chicken bone on it and take away the hex. After 2 days of frustration and a loaner on the way it all of a sudden started to work. I had previously done all the resets possible. Then poof out of nowhere it starts to work. I am reluctant to send it to Nikon because the problem doesn't still exist, but I am concerned it will rear its ugly head again at a very poor time.

Please advise!

How long did you leave the battery out of the camera? I have heard that people leave then out for a few hrs then replace it works...

90% of the time, when electronic devices act funny, it is the battery low voltage. Not every device has a battery low-voltage automatic cutoff switch, or one that works 100% of the time.

Thanks for your responses. I left the battery out over night. I also tried a new, freshly recharged battery. Nothing seemed to work.
