Hi guys just wanna pass this around in case if somebody did not know this.
Yesturday I downloaded an FM Action for my 10D to use in ph. 7 WOW!!

It sharpens the image so nicely with no noise increese or artifacts. I have done some comparison FM action vs ph unsharp mask and the differance speak of itself. And the best thing is it costs onnly $15!!!
Now I need no worry about my 10D image softness with this FM Action

I've been using Fred's "Intellisharpen" for some time and yesterday upgraded to the new version 3.0. It's even better than before. Great stuff.

At the same token, I find the ISOR PRO actions useless, outright harmful, and the "Stair interpolation" and "Digital Infrared" actions are a joke.
But the "Digital Velvia" saturation set is a great one, too!

Just my 0.02 $ worth.

Ciao

I have his 10D CSpro and Velvia actions. They are great. Now Photoshop editing is becoming a routine:

-- Assign CSpro Low, Med, and High to F2, F3, F4 buttons respectively.
-- Assign Velvia Level 1, 2, 3, and 4 to F5, F6, F7, F8 respectively.
-- Assign Image Resize (25% downsize for web) to F9
-- Assign a framing action to F10
-- Assign save as JPEG 10 to F11
-- Assign Save as Tiff w/layers to F12

Now open a photo. Look at the photo and decide what it needs. Press a few Function buttons and each photo is done in about 1 minute. Sweeeet.

Or create a batch automation. Apply an action to every photos in the same directory and go get coffee. Sweeet.

10D CSpro, edgesharpen pro, and intellisharpen.

Site says CSpro was designed for the 10D, edgesharpen is for high iso, and intellisharpen works on everything. Anybody notice any real differences among these?

Thanks,

Ted

Why do you shoot at such weird F stops?

Are you using the P mode or do you use manual mode? I never realized using the different F stops would require the use of Low Med or High for the USM ;)

I also tried the FM action for sharpening and found it to be a good investment. I also didn't care for the ISOPro noise removal for the 10D. FOr my money (and time), Neat IMage does an amazing job of removing noise and keeping the detail. I process RAW images with C1LE and then NeatImage for noise removal. To print, I use PS7, resize, and then sharpen with the FM tool. My prints look like 3-D pictures after that and can stand up to the best medium format prints.

I found the low and medium settings (FM) to work best.

Peter,
He is referring the FUNCTION KEYS on the pc keyboard. Not F stops....

He is assigning macros to the F keys to avoid extra mouse and keyboard entries.....

Maybe you can show me what to do with F16 cause my keyboard does not have a F16 button. Don't tell me to use Shift or Control, cause I hate those buttons.

Just downloaded the Fred Miranda Intellisharpen and thinking of getting neat image but where do you get the Digital Velvia action from?

Cheers

I can confirm that Intellisharpen v. 3.0 works great on high-ISO files also. I used it last night on ISO 1600 - ISO 3200 files AFTER they'd been through NeatImage. Since v. 3.0 now has settings from 1 thru 14 I presume it will be strong enough to sharpen even 10D files. For my 1D images, I normally use 3 thru 5, rarely up to 7. So I guess Intellisharpen 3 may well be the only one you'll ever need.

Sure sounds that way. Might just try them both (CSpro and intelli) anyway since they are inexpensive. Curious to see how a 10D specific action differs from a more general action.

Thanks to you both.

Thanks in advance

Stefan,

Just curious: if you're using intellisharpen for sharpening, but don't like Fred's stair interpolation for re-sizing, what are you using for this step?

I keep testing this FM Action with my 10D and it gotten even better, so here what I do now:

go to parameters and set contrast to -1, sharpness to -2 and saturaion to +2. man it works so cool! in fact I just realised that this FM Action has some little affect on contrast.
Can somebody try this setting and let me know how does it work out for you.
Thanks
