Lowepro Mini Trekker question?

Hi Julie -- I thought I'd throw in my feedback -- I've read so many of your helpful posts I feel like I should send you a fee or something!

I have both the Mini Trekker and Mocor Trekker 200 as well, and with BG-ED3 and my Op/Tech Grep Strap mount (adds about 1/3 of an inch to the height of the combo) it fits OK.

I use the Mini Trekker when I want to carry (amost) all my gear -- can't fit both speedlights and all 4 lenses at the same time -- and the Micro 200 for a lighter-weight "just what I need today" bag. The nice thing about the Micro 200 is that it has a side Velcro (R) close pocket on each side, whereas I'd have to buy add-on pouches to the Mini Trekker. I suppose if I bought those then I could carry everything with the Mini Trekker if I wanted.

-Rob
No worries there, the Mini Trekker WILL fit your 10D with grip (so
will the smaller Micro Trekker 200). I used to have both, still
have the Mini Trekker. I also have the larger Photo Trekker AW for
when I want to carry all my gear on my back.

I reccomend the Mini Trekker! It's the best compromise between size
and weight in the Trekker line-up, IMO. I just wish they made it an
"AW"...
Are any of you using the Mini Trekker with the 10D with the grip
mounted fitting in the backpack? The published dimensions say it's
only 5 inches deep which shouldn't be enough, but a friend in
another city says it will fit. It fits in the Nature Trekker but
it is 6 inches deep but a lot bigger.

The Mini and the Micro 200 both sound great. I need to sell the Nature Trekker. It's just too big for me.

Juli, I have the Mini Trekkler 200 and love it, haven't seen anything I would rather have...

I own the mini trekker and I carry the following gear:

10D with grip (loaded sideways with grip facing out)
Elan2 with grip
28-105 3.5-4.5 with hood
50 1.8
70-210 3.5-4.5 with hood
Charger with power cord
Light Meter
Pocket Bounce
Flash extension cord
Spare USB cable

and I have room to add:
Flash
Sigma 50-500
Spare batteries
Film (for Elan2)
Notepad
ipod
headphones
Canon A40

Here are the pics:

If you note, the 10D with grip actually fits quite well on its side. In this position the camera is well protected. The Elan2 is a larger body and sticks out further the way I have it loaded. I may not keep the Elan2 in the bag for this reason. In any case, even though it looks like the bodies are sticking too far out, the bag zips up snug and there is a lot of padding. However, you won't be able to stuff a lot of things in the front pouches.

I'm using the Micro Trekker 200 on a daily basis.

It carries the standard compliment of lens cleaning materials, extra batteries and filters. As to the main compartment area, it has a D30/28-70mmf/2.8L w/BG-ED3 attached. In the lens pockets of the main storage area are Sigma's 15-30mm, Canon's 20mm f/2.8, Canon's 100mm f/2.8, macro and Simga's, 1.4X TC. Don't carry no flash:-) Don't need/like flash:-)

So this bag, for me, carries all I could need for daily usage. Behind the seat is Sigma's 180mm f/3.5 macro, a tripod and monopod/ballhead. Between the truck and the bag, I have it pretty much covered.

FWIW, I hope this helps.

The mini trekker will fit nicely under the seat. Some planes have tiny overhead bins, and if you travel with a bag larger than the mini trekker, you may find yourself in a tough position of not being able to keep the bag as carry-on. In fact, on a recent flight to SF my Nova 4 wouldn't fit in the overhead bin, and that's smaller than almost all of the SLR-capable backpacks!

Juli,

Greetings from the UK.

The image below will show what you can fit in my mini trekker.

I did a lot of research before buying this, it is a great backpack.

It can get heavy but it is comfortable. It goes on a plane Ok and when travelling about it is pretty inconspicuous - it does not shout "camera bag". It is easy to attach a tripod.

Hope this helps.

Hey Chris,

How do you manage to fit a 50-500 in there ??
I'm struggling just a little having recently added that to my inventory.
I dont want to have to buy another back pack so I'd be interested to see.

OK, since I have no photos, I'll have to type this out... :-)

In my Micro Trekker 200 I used to have:

D30 with grip and 28-70 f/2.8 L attached with reversed hood
20mm f/2.8L with hood (hood in outside pocket)
50mm f/1.4 with hood reversed
70-200 f/2.8L with hood reversed
100mm f/2.8 macro
1.4x Extender II
Metz 54MZ-3 flash
Sekonic L-358 light meter
batteries for camera and flash (several sets)
cable release
hurricane bulb blower
microfibre cloth and lenspen
several filters and assorted "stuff"
Palm organiser
pen and notepad
business cards
and maybe some other small stuff I'm forgetting...

..when I took the bag down to Melbourne for the Aussie F1 GP, I replaced the 100mm Macro and 50mm f/1.4 with the 300mm f/4 L. :-)

In my Mini Trekker I usually carry the same (replaced the 20mm with the 16-35mm f/2.8 L, which is larger, and the D30 with the 10D, but otherwise identical gear :-)), with a little more comfort (the Micro Trekker 200 was FULL). I have a little extra room for another prime lens or some accessories.

I have a 1D and a Mini Trekker and it fits fine so you shouldn't have any problem with a 10D.

Hello

I have the Lowepro Mini Trekker that I was originally using with my E-10 (with lipo grip attached). It also carried my tcon-300 mm lens, tcon 1.4x lens, wide angle lens, macro lens, flash and several other things.

I currently use my 10D system for the Lowepro Mini Trekker. I have the 10D, Battery Grip and 28-135mm lens attached most of the time and it fits just fine (it fits in the backpack on it's side with the hand grip and strap attached facing up). I also have the 75-300mm lens, 550ex flash and several other things in the bag. I try not to carry anything more than I need in the backpack since I have a bad back

The camera might not fit all the way down in the bag like people are suggesting on here but I'm not buying another bag now as this still works for just fine for me. Just my two cents worth.

Michael
