Has anyone had any experience with the Mack warranty. Is it any good? Is it hard to get Mack warranty repairs done? Manufactures warranties are usually pretty solid but some of the consumer third party warranties can be a pain in the buttocks trying to get a repair done.

I'd research this further at http://www.photo.net . I think there are a lot of people there with negative things to say about Mack. I've never had to use them, although i've bought one or two of their warranties from Adorama. I know now that i'll not buy them again, but based only on what i've read.

Also, i think the reliability of Mack may be dependent on what kind of equipment you need serviced. Simple, popular, mechanical, current equipment may be easier to have work done on. And, parts availability will always be a factor. I'd hesitate to buy a Mack warranty on anything exotic, or overly (electronically) sophisticated.

I ordered a 10D from Dell for $1350, but was concerned because they don't offer an extended warranty. I was thinking about the Mack warranty too, but just found the message below. If you charge the 10D purchase to certain kinds of Visa cards (gold, platinum, signature), they double the manufacturer's warranty for nothing. Then you can purchase an additional extended warranty from Visa for $88 (one more year--total three years) or $138 (three more years--total five years). Thanks to Frank P. for providing a great solution to my problem.

I heard that the 'Mack' people are the same people that fix Canon equipment. Is that true? Anyone heard anything like that?
