Olympus or Fujifilm XD card ?

They will both work fine but you can’t use the panorama mode unless you have the Oly card.

I bought the xd 128mb Olympus card on sale at CompUSA a few weeks ago for $39 after a $20 rebate, and the other two Olympus 128mp cards of mine I only paid $59 each. If you want to save money, you have to bargain or at least look for sales.

I was speaking with tunnel vision I guess, in Canada they seem to be cheaper than the Oly cards. For example, I got my Fuji 256mb xD card for $139.99 and the equivalent Olympus card was $189.99. I see now that Future Shop is selling a Lexar 256mb xD card for $139.99 as well.

Amazon has the Fuji 256 card for $109 and the Olympus 256 card for $129. Prices will vary by countries and websites and stores. The Fuji xD cards in the USA has been less expensive starting out, but I think that is starting to change. In any event I was able to get my 128mb cards cheaper than what Fuji was selling theirs. Never easy to get good deals.

Just curious as to why someone would pay twice as much for a XD card than a CF card?

Jeff, a lot of the new cameras from Olympus and Fujifilm only take the new xD photo cards The C5050 will take both, but my new Olympus Stylus 300 Digital will just take xD memory cards. I also have a CF adapter for my xD card so I can use it in my laptop, computer, or my E100rs. I cannot us a CF card in my C700 or my Stylus 300. But if you are talking about people with the C5050, then it is a good question.

The prices I was talking about are in canadian funds, so $139.99 CDN is a lot better than $109.99 US.

Yes, for some reason Radio Shack in Canada sell 256Mb Fuji xD cards for CAD130, which is cheaper than in the USA. Mine comes from there. Of course, that is still more expensive than CF.
But I bought it for extra memory over and above the CF card. As it turned out it is invaluable because my CF memory won't work. For now, anyway.

Sounds like a vacation in Canada is worth a trip just to buy xD cards, but canada is beautiful anyways. The only problem right now is the SARS scare in Toronto. It seems here in Las Vegas, that people are vacationing here in droves since the SARS have changed a lot of vacation plans. Hopefully it will be over soon. Things like that don't help ones economy.

SARS scare is in Toronto? You are more likely to die from the common cold or flu than sars! Educate yourself before making such a silly comment.

I am educated, never-the-less SARS has changed a lot of vacation plans for travelers. Maybe you should listen to the news, you may learn something. Your insulting just shows your level of communications. I think you need to go back to school before you shoot off your mouth, or better yet just shoot with your camera, it's probably better than your mouth.
