I just installed the new FW, but it doesn't look like you can add it to the imenu. You can add it to the fn button or other custom controls, but those are already used up for me. It would be nice to not have to dig through the menu to toggle it. :(

As I've noted elsewhere, the grain option is not in the right place. It really should be a Picture Control parameter (which would also mean you could change it in the i menus). I'm curious to see if EXPEED8 puts grain where it should be.

Don't know why you'd need a new CPU to toggle this function in the iMenu versus the regular menu.. hopefully they will correct this oversight. Nikon listens to their customers, I suspect they will if enough people ask them to do so.

Next best thing is to put it in the MyMenu.

You can add it to MyMenu and place it at the top there. You can then program any button to open the top item in MyMenu to avoid scrolling through the main menu.

Since I think this grain feature only makes sense for SOOC jpegs it doesn't make much sense that it is not a Picture Control parameter. Seems like a more natural place to live. I think I would be more likely to use it if it was. And I think it may be the type of setting that folks forget they have made and the effects end up in images they do not want to have it.

I'm curious as to why Nikon didn't include it in a Picture Control. Maybe they didn't want to create a new picture control format with a new file extension to support it?
