Any number of images is allowed. Any Nikon camera is allowed. Just stay nice to each other, as you would in real life.

When quoting, consider not repeating the same images to avoid unnecessary scrolling.

Beginner or pro, doesn't matter. This thread is about enjoying photography and perhaps getting constructive feedback - never too late to learn!

[Katanya - very good]

I did look at your #1, the man in the royal blue suit, for a long while but my favourite, because of the unusual lighting is #3.

I hope it is going to be possible and enjoyable for you to continue your thread after the DPR changes which will happen very soon.

.

3 photos will be posted in hopes of walking you

through just how the mystery photo happened.

This takes place in an abandoned building out

where 3000+ crazed primates live. The building

for years has been referred to as The Dog Palace.

Also for many years I too had a small room here

where dog supplies were kept for easy access..

Many abandoned jungle dogs lived here and

the monks and nuns cared for them plus I

arrived every other day 2 care 4 them 2.

This took place over many years, then

covid hit and the building was used

to house covid patients... We still

show up to care for the k9s at

the nuns place once a week.

Covid patients were there

for more than one year

then the building was

a ghost town, still is!

.

This is the mystery photo.

This is a photo from the flat roof where

the dog was when photo was taken

from below. Notice the staircase.

And this is the staircase from below. I believe I was

standing where the dog is, shooting back at the

space to the left and up slightly. Post processing

was done with - 2012 ACDsee - It was all done 4 fun.

In #1, this gentleman with the impeccable taste makes the photo, he certainly is the star of the show. #3 is one of my favorite photos indeed, the clouds lightened by the sunset look like I have never seen before, like the sky itself is on fire

As to impending changes, obviously since the migration will begin in 31/10 and until it finishes we can’t post for 5 days, the next weekly thread will be posted in 6 November. Hopefully I will manage to post it without any problems because I really enjoy seeing all the beautiful photos posted here and see this forum more and more active 👍😀

My mistake. Yes, indeed the sky and sunset are nice but I meant #4 is my favourite - the puppeteer with the suitcase ...

That one is my favourite - sorry for the confusion.

Yes, I know it is still only October but I usually make things for people as Christmas presents. Calendars, diaries, photobooks etc. that sort of thing. So I have to start early. I have 2 great nieces and one great nephew, all young children.

I decided to have some playing cards made with individual portraits on the back:

D750; SB400 flashgun; Nik 28-105mm - Bella aged ± 7 years

I am pursuing my adoption of Inkscape so made this montage with that in preference to the abandoned Adobe Illustrator (RIP).

It was all done 4 fun.
YES INDEED... excellent! Your introductory "narrative" with the declining taper... VERY creative! And fun. I am familiar with picture #1 (as you mentioned). Fun. But Pic #2 also has a some mystery shadows! Fun. Although we can probably guess "who" they belong to. Fun. WELL DONE! :-)

Great picture! And a wonderful idea. Reminds me of the DPR Studio Comparison Tool. I typically used the "King of Spades" as the differentiator... going all the way back to 2005 (comparing the Panny FZ30 to the Fuji S9000).

I agree. #4 is really nice. Well done, Nick! :-)

Things are a bit weird nowadays and my shooting has been curtailed. Here are a few from the past week. I must say... even though I am shooting less... anything I manage to shoot and post-process... just having this hobby... helps get me through the day-to-day mental challenges. :-)

John, you saved the best till last. That one of the engine is my favourite - but it looks like you were standing in a dangerous place?

Great picture! And a wonderful idea.
I used the company Snapfish to print the playing cards. Reasonable pricing and fair but not outstanding product.

Poor website though - devoid of technical details such as print dpi needed, bleed margins and worst of all, actual radius of curvature of card corners far greater than their on-screen emulator shows. I mention this in case anybody else wants to try the idea.

Thanks M5,

The Mystery Photo has a date - 2016 - which maybe

misleading as all the photos were from the year 2013.

2016, could be a date when the photo was touched up.

Anyway, I really appreciate your comments, means a lot.

Over the years many people have asked, how that photo

came about, so, I figured it was time to come clean ;-)----

Might mention, all this takes place under a brutal tropical

sun, hence adding to the mystery, and the story that's told.

Again, thank you so much for adding your words to the story.

Jon, I really like your #2 image - the Buddhas and so appropriately the dog.

Why do I say 'appropriately'? Well, I am of no fixed religion but something of a closet Buddhist because of the philosophy's reverence for all life not just Homo sapiens. Apart from Saint Francis of Assisi, Christianity does not come close.

No# 2 photo - A local young man did the painting all by himself.

This's one way 2 make merit. The dog lives in our home, sleeps

next to my side of the bed. Always watches over me, always.

In the 60's I entered the military as a Baptist.. December of

1969 when my time in the military was up I was a Buddhist.

By Buddhist that means my style of Buddhism. I will offer

a helping hand, but I do not turn the other cheek, I'm

not that guy ! Buddhism doesn't control with guilt

and shame, according to my own observations.

If my dogs like you, so will I ;)-

The first picture of the old pieces of tree feels somehow very 3D. The impression of depth is really strong.
