I had a negative experience with them when I sent an X-pro 2 in for a sensor/main board repair. This was during covid though, so I’m not sure if it was reflective of how they normally operate.
I had bought one of the last remaining X-pro 2’s from Best Buy’s inventory that was brand new sealed in the box but I’m pretty sure this was in the middle of 2019, so quite a bit after it was discontinued. Fortunately the repairs were still under warranty since it was new, but looking back on things maybe since it was so far past the x-pro 2’s lifespan maybe they had limited parts do work with.
The camera had worked as it should the first 6 months or so, but at some point it seemed that the sensor was faulty. So I made a repair request and sent it in. They confirmed the issue and replaced the sensor. Once I received the camera back, there was an odd magenta tint to everything that had not been before. They said to send it back and confirmed the issue a said the main board now needed to be replaced.
I received the camera back and unfortunately the same weird magenta tint was still present and I confirmed all test with them and had to send it back once again.
I received the camera back again, and still the same issue after another board replacement. It’s like they didn’t even compare it to another camera. I’m not even talking about a minor subtle tint, it was very dramatic. They kept changing out the main boards, but it was obvious that it was the new sensor they first replaced that was causing the issue.
I was finally able to talk to someone about the issue and explain the situation and I was able to send it back to be assessed.
keep in mind it’s about 2-4 weeks each time this happens so it has been a months long process so far. I don’t hear from them at all, but in a couple weeks I receive a package from them. It was not my X-pro 2, mine was about 6 months old, absolutely pristine condition. The X-pro 2 I received was very well worn and beat up. Though it was working and no weird tint, it was not my camera and not a fair trade in my opinion. If you are going to swap out a camera completely, it has to be of the same condition and I should have to be at least contacted about the swap first.
I had to call many different people to try to get it resolved, but I was eventually able to get my original camera back, still with the weird issue. It had been so long at that point I just gave up. Absolutely horrible communication on their part and extremely difficult and frustrating situation trying to work with them.
Again this was at a very odd time, so cannot judge them as a whole but I feel obligated to share my Fuji repair horror story. They might be fine with current camera line up repair, but if you are sending in an older model especially during a global pandemic, I would do so with caution.
