Bought this lens twenty years ago and it is still going strong...

Thought I'd give it a go at comet Lemmon the other day-single shot:

Nice shot of C/2025 Lemmon Lensmate. Must have used a tracker? Managed one the other day, no tracker, 2.5s exposure using my 70-200G with the 1.4x teleconverter.

Nice one! Did you shoot from Garry Point Park?

I shot mine from the east side where the Bortles is 8-9 which is pretty bad light pollution.

I used a really cheap tracker bought many moons ago:

My post processing sucks, so its not the greatest single frame image.

No, wasn't planned. From my back yard which faces West, but I have a street along the side and there is a street light right below Ursa Major. So I had a tough time finding it for a couple of days, but went out on Tuesday and it was slightly North of West, so ran and got the camera set up and got about 20 shots. 3200, 6400; 2.5 to 4 seconds to minimize star trails.

I have a Star Adventurer. Going to go out a bit more this winter and try Andromeda and Horse head nebula as Orion again. Although I was looking at the Star Adventurer GTI. The go to feature is awesome in the city when you cant see much.

Agree this is a great lens. It has really nice bokeh. This one taken with the A850.

The Star Adventurer GTI looks handy, and I should really upgrade my tracker, but I don't want to throw more money into something I occasionally photograph. My post processing skills are rubbish and astro-pp is something I wouldn't enjoy.

I've thrown my money into drones instead. Beautiful time of year for images above ground...

How are the colours out your way?

Space and Astronomy is something I'm interested in, so want to do more astrophotography....

This week seems to be where they fall colours are coming out fully. Williams Road near me gets some nice colours....

Nice one!

Did you photograph that huge solar storm on May 10th/11th 2024?

Was way past by bedtime :) I'm an early to bed, early riser person, so any astrophotography in the summer is a challenge.

Another good lens is the Tamron 70-200 f2.8 USD which I bought about 15 years ago because it was cheaper than the Sony. I still use it regularly today on my A99ii.
