Hi, I have a Hagiwara compact flash, this is a brand that make rugged versions of different card formats for use in tough environments or industrial aplications.

This 16GB CF model number is MFD10P-016GS(A00AD)

Works perfectly on any computer I tried, tried cheap card readers and also better card readers like Lexar, works without any issues on MacOS, Windows, I can format it however I want, read and write operation work great.

Now, If I try to put this card in any camera, it either gives a Card Error message, or freezes the camera. I tried multiple cameras including Olympus E520 and E620, Nikon D810, no go

Any ideas why ?

Hi

Try formatting the card in camera.

Especially if you've written to it from the computer a full format in the camera is a good idea.

I would just junk the card and forget about it.

I never heard of the brand. It's been some time since there were cameras produced that use CF cards. Maybe the makers of these cards aren't testing them for compatability with digital cameras.

It's just curiosity that's all, this card works in every card reader I tried, but not in any camera I tried.

Interesting that cameras also work with any cheap SD to CF adapter., with old 256MB CF cards and new 128GB CF cards, just not with this one.

I got bored and did some searching. Two smaller cards from that brand are listed by Canon for some of their pro video cameras.

The only references I could find for those actual cards are related to CNC and other industrial uses. My guess is the card is using some part of the CF spec that cameras don't expect.
