Got back from a trip last week that included a brief sunset stop at the Tufas of Mono Lake. Quite a swing in light with the sun and clouds. Clouds were moving fast.

Apple Photos with Luminar Neo plug-in. HEIF exported as JPEG. C&C welcome.

Blue hour competing with a bit of the dipping sun.

A little more purple/reddish hues breaking through better a half hour later.

I like ‘em! Well done. I was confused though thinking these were taken with an iPhone as you typed Apple photos. When I drilled in - didn’t click the image for the exif but rather the original link - I was amazed with the detail and said to myself, these can’t be iPhone images. And they aren’t. I really like the colors.

I was just wondering if you did any color editing? Has the white balance been changed or coding used in this editing process.?
thanks for posting.

I've never been there, is it worth the trip?

It is absolutely worth the trip. Bodie ghost town is about 45 minutes away. The eastern entrance to Yosemite is about 45 minutes away (of course the park is large and there is a lot to navigate within the park). Fall colors are amazing (I will be posting some of those as I sort through mine).

The area (stores/resturaunts/roads) are usually mostly closed from about late October/early November until late March/mid April due to snow. Hwy 395 is the main highway through the area- and that one is kept fairly regularly plowed, but have to pay attention to the weather/season when going.

This photo- the snow in the background was an unusually cold/snowy late fall storm. That snow was completely gone within 2-3 days.

I added vibrance, and a bit of warmth to both (more to the first one than second). I upped the red on the first one some. Looking back, I think I went a bit too far on the first one. A little too much warmth to try and cancel out the blue hour feeling on the tufts themselves. Both were with Reala Ace film sim base from Fuji.

Thanks for your explanation Meeces.

it is all very beautiful.

Blue hour
That's way too cyan. The color's way off, in my opinion. I think you might be better off with daylight color balance if you can still change it.

The camera got it right.

I agree. Trying to go too fast and too far with the colors. I'll work on it again at some point. I think the camera got it right- but to my eye it was a bit more saturated/vibrant.
