Some really well done pics. Beautiful to look at.

A cracking set of images. Alex :-). That Tamron 70-300, if it's the one with the 1:2 close up capability, was my lead lens if customers came in talking about a 'close up' photography. I would sus out what 'close up' photography, subject wise, they were interested in and would let them have a fiddle with the appropriate mount lens and they could go home and check out the images and told them that if they wanted better / closer / more magnification, to come back and try out a macro lens. I had several customers come back to purchase a Macro lens, in addition :-)

Cheers,

Jack

Thanks Jack!

I am not sure about the magnification ratio. My lens has a switch that activates macro mode in the 150-300mm range. It's a surprisingly good lens for the price. The main drawback is very strong purple fringing at the long end.

Yep, that's it, Alex

I get the same thing with my really old Tamron 70-200/2.8 and I tell all the "purple fringing" naysayers, that I really like "purple fringing" :-D ......... annoys them to no end ;-)

Cheers,

Jack

I hate purple fringing since my first camera, Canon PowerShot G5 :(

It's funny, but, I never really started to notice 'purple fringing' until I started using my Takumar 400/5.6 on my Pentax K-r or K-50 (?) around ten years ago. I was looking back and tis amazing how many monochrome images that I'm finding ;-)

Cheers,

Jack
