I've just been charged for the subscription which I did not ask for it. its alway slow to process any image. It keeps analysing and downloading the model which takes forever like 10 mins. Checking it against the legacy ones it's not worth it. I ask for a cancellation as it starts today. Just beware those that got it, it automatically charge you for it.

I got a notification that my subscription would be renewed in November with an option to opt out. That said it appears your computer isn't up to the task for AI processing. On my computer nothing takes more than a couple minutes.

I just got a notice that an attempt to renew my subscription had failed. I never asked for a subscription and that was a really sleezy attempt on their part. I did not do a pre-order. I had no intention of subscribing and after that little grab, am strengthened in my resolve not to support them ever. And yet, if they had just continued with periodic payments for upgrades, I likely would have continued. Idiots.

(Just went into the site and removed my old payment method and cancelled the preorder that I never requested.)

I remember some verbiage from the company in the not too distant past stating that saving a payment method in your account constituted an agreement to automatic renewals. I believe that's also how one obtained a discount on the normal cost of upgrading what was at the time a perpetual license. That was the bait, which I did not take.

I think you had to explicitly turn on auto-renew. That gave the discounted price, and required a payment method to be provided. Simply buying a one-off one-year maintenance extension didn’t do that. I have active maintenance agreements on two Topaz AI products, but didn’t opt for auto-renewal. It therefore shows that I have no subscriptions.

The first of them runs out in just over three weeks. I expect I’ll be be getting ’Action Required NOW’ emails shortly.

Interestingly, despite having a temporary licence for the full Topaz Studio, I’ve not received any emails reminding me to install and take advantage of it. They simply appear not to have noticed that I’ve not used any part of Topaz Studio. Presumably they think the Studio subscription deal is so compelling that it’s unimaginable that anyone would fail to take advantage of it?

My payment method was stored when I originally bought Topaz some years ago. IMO, it's pretty out of line for them to assume they can charge me for things I didn't order or didn't opt out of, that were unknown at the time of the original order. I'm quite thankful that their attempt to draw funds failed.

It’s funny, that didn’t happen with me. I thought you had to turn on auto-renew for that to happen?

I was asked if I wanted to renew my subscription and I said yes. Apparently it failed for you because you didn't approve it. What's the problem? If they had renewed it without your permission then there would be a problem.

That is correct and because I have been updating annually anyway I took the discount.

That is correct. I suspect they made no attempt to withdraw funds and instead his notice was simply an attempt to get him to turn on auto renewal. If you go to their website it's pretty easy to turn it off if you want to opt out.

I notified Topaz and they canceled my subscription, I bought a dell XP laptop last year.

Even a new computer may not be adequate for AI processing if it doesn't have an advanced GPU.

Yeah, my machine has a fairly expensive, yet still mid-level, RTX A4000 card and some Topaz operations can take up to two minutes. My old machine with a K1200 (aimed at the CAD market) would take literally forever, so long that I never bothered. For most tasks it was more than adequate, but not the AI stuff, regardless of how good the CPU might be.

Topaz makes heavy use of a GPU and now needs to be a newer and more powerful GPU. I updated my old PC GPU to a GTX 1050ti with 4 gigs Vram about 1.5 years ago. Topaz software worked fine until with updated versions it did not. The GPU was no longer adequate so I am stuck on version 3.4.4, which is ok. I did not pick a more powerful GPU at the time because the PS was not adequate and it was recommended on the users forum as an easy, reliable upgrade. Not a PC tech and GPUs were expensive.

My credit card expires at the end of this month. I don't intend to update my new card on their website.

Consumer Privacy Advice - NEVER pay for unwanted subs again!

I use a service called privacy.com. This service allows you to create virtual credit cards on demand. There is a FREE tier and you can always pay if you need more than 12 cards a month.

What is great about this service is the ability to created merchant locked cards with a spending limit of whatever you want.

When signing up for a "free" trial companies often make you supply a payment method to gain access. Then it is on you to cancel before the trial ends or get billed.

What I do is create a merchant locked card with a credit limit of $1.00. Then if I forget to cancel the "free" trial and the company tried to bill me they get a payment denied and privacy.com sends me an email notification that the charge was declined. I can then go and cancel the "free" trial.

Here is the review on TrustPilot .

They say "eviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Customers appreciate the service for providing a secure and discreet way to make online purchases, offering a protective layer for their financial information. People feel more secure knowing they can create virtual cards for various uses, including single transactions, subscriptions, and specific vendors. This allows consumers to control access to their bank accounts and monitor spending, preventing unauthorized charges and potential fraud."

NOTE: I am a paying customer for this service. Not because I need more than 12 cards a month but because I really value their service and want to give them a little money. I am not an affiliate not do I receive any monetary or non-monetary compensation from privacy.com These are my personal thoughts and recommendations.

Do you have a desktop PC? It's possible to upgrade your GPU with most desktop computers. It's simply a matter of unplugging the old GPU, plugging in the new one and letting Windows automatically install new drivers. If you've never done it before it may sound intimidating but it's not difficult.

Yes, but as Greg said, he was limited in his choice of upgraded GPU by the inadequate power supply.

Similarly, when I upgraded my original GTX1060 to an RTX4060, I chose that model because it needed no more power than my original GPU.
