Haven’t been there in years but is our favorite beach as well. We would hike the Hanakapii trail as far as we would want, then return to the beach and cool ourselves off with a nice swim. Lots of great fish in the lagoon. Truly an idyllic place but I hear it attracted too many visitors in recent years. Don’t know if it was closed off.

My first visit to this beach was in the mid-1980s. The road to it and parking were very primitive. The beauty was intoxicating, particularly for a young man in his twenties from the midwest. 🙂 There were very few people around and no structures. I heard it was the filming location for several movies, including the musical “South Pacific” and “Donovan’s Reef.” I don’t know if either is true, but it added to the mystique. My next and only other visit was last May, when I took the above photo. There is a paved parking lot and restrooms now.

I’ve seen a lot of beaches and tropical locations in my years, but Hā'ena stands out as one of the most beautiful.

Cheers

Lovely feather detail on all

The blue jay was feeding at the edge of an oak tree when it blasted off with the dark shadow of the tree in the background.

A little distance from SoCal but if I lived closer, I would go.
I'd highly recommend it, even if my 100% biased opinion is biased. 😉

I think I've mentioned with other posts before- 7-8 venues, 100-120 sets of music across 4 days. Some insanely weird, but amazing collaborations- Bob Willis/ County Western Swing style with Jazz/Swing on the same stage. I could go on . . . 🙂

I prefer the backroads to I-40 between Grants and Albuquerque NM. Here's a couple buildings that caught my eye.

Smoke from the fires in Canada along with the natural haze created an interesting look. My color images did not capture it well so I did black and white conversions.

In Chicago for a couple days. Walking around on a rainy evening with the X-E5 and new 23mm pancake. Transferred JPEGs to my phone with the XApp and minor tweaks before posting.
