Haven’t been there in years but is our favorite beach as well. We would hike the Hanakapii trail as far as we would want, then return to the beach and cool ourselves off with a nice swim. Lots of great fish in the lagoon. Truly an idyllic place but I hear it attracted too many visitors in recent years. Don’t know if it was closed off.
My first visit to this beach was in the mid-1980s. The road to it and parking were very primitive. The beauty was intoxicating, particularly for a young man in his twenties from the midwest.Haven’t been there in years but is our favorite beach as well.
