First shots with my new gear

Good to know, I often tend to over-post :-D at times.
Slow moving subjects could have been shot at ISO 100, with appropriate reduction in shutter speed. Still, when you need to, push the ISO with no fear.
I just saw that some of them were taken at a higher ISO than needed. Not sure if that was the Auto ISO or I just didn't adjust it back as I was shooting. Festivities started just before sunrise on a clouded morning. i might have also been worried about the IBIS doing it's job - I no longer have Dual Sync IS, so I have to be a bit more deliberate than I used to - and that'll take a bit of retraining myself. But it was a good reminder to check my settings and it was on Auto ISO.
I stay away from Auto ISO when shooting subjects against the sky, such as bird-in-flight. Your balloons were fairly large in the frame, so it worked decently. Since we can see an WSIWYG image in the EVF, I find it just as easy to shoot full manual, 99% of the time.

There is a setting to control shutter speed when shooting A with auto-ISO. It works back from 1/FL. There are 5 options from Slower to Faster. With an A7CR, Slower isn’t slow enough. With an A7Riv, Slow works fine for lenses with OSS. I have the lens button set to call the setting up, so I can change it from swapping to and from a lens with OSS.

Or you can set ISO to match your FL and handholding to shutter speed.

Agreed. I only used it because I’m still getting used to the IBIS and how slow of shutter speeds I can get away with on this 60mp sensor. Coming from a camera that let me get 2 second exposures hand held to something that’s… not as much. I just needed to learn where my hand hold ability low-end range starts. Auto ISO just let me keep the sutter at 1/FL. I think I’ve got it pinned down now, (1/20sec seems like the low end until I improve my technique and slow myself down and shoot more deliberate rather than run and gun like I’m used to). Still, this is a massive upgrade in so many other areas, including edit flexibility, DR, Resolution, and IQ.

Thats what I have mine set to. Usually I won’t need it. 95% of my shooting is decent light or better or I’ll have one of my tripod with me for waterfall shots. This particular morning started much darker than what the photos show. Mountains and clouds blocking the sun kinda compelled me to shoot with some…training wheels for my first real usage of the camera.

Training wheels are about to come off though.
