The inspirational 50-200mm f2.8

Got a phone call today from my local Camera store, said they have one in store for me so I went down to have a look, I wasn't gonna go through with it but as soon as I saw it I couldn't help myself, it's a beautiful Lens and very light, reeks quality and very well built.

Here's a few shots I captured this afternoon, my first shots with the 50-200mm, I can see this lens being the perfect allrounder, very portable.

My position is unchanged so far - this likely will just be a lens I rent periodically. I keep refreshing my search at Lensrentals.com to see when they'll list it. Also sent an email to their support to see if/when they're going to start carrying it and how much it'll be to rent for about 10 days. I have a trip to the British Virgin Islands in January, and I spend a lot of time photographing on that trip - a mixture of macro, landscape and wildlife.
Got a response from LR - they said they're excited about the lens, but it depends on their suppliers. Said it was probably best to have a backup plan for a January trip (which will just end up being the 40-150/2.8 for me).
Price is now on their page with a "Coming Soon" label. Cost is $214 for 7 Days, which puts it right between the 40-150/2.8 ($94) and the 150-400/4.5 ($408). Total no-brainer to rent instead of buy for me! I already have the MC-14 so I think this will be a great setup for my trip.

Didn't I mention that not for long, we will be seeing picture taken with the new lens from you :-). You said back then no way I am going to cave in...

Congrats on your new lens!

None of the shots look that impressive.

Well, inspiration does inspire want. The 50-200 is more than I need, more than I want to carry around, and a lot more than I want to spend. But the inspiration was still there, so I put in a bid on a 40-150/2.8 at a good price.

Good move on your part.
