Double exposure prints, old school.

I would like to share two double and triple eposures done old school in the wet darkroom.

The first is composed of a shot of my brother in his car on the highway, combined with a foto of the "red arrows" or rather one of them.

The second is composed of the Harvard pilot, the tiger moth and separate clouds.

Prints ,18x24 cm Ilford multgrade rc are photographed with Samsung s21.

A lot of work and experiment but good fun, nice results.

Does anyone out these still do this kind of stuff, if yes can you show us the results.

I like double exposure but if done too much, it gets old. And when I do it, I am not as 'neat' as you ...well done though

Also, it worth finding are the two Lustrum Darkroom Books by Ralph Gibson. Uelsmann might even be in one of them. Shows how people like Edward Weston's son, I think it was, contact printed his negs with dodging and burning. Same thing with Emmett Gowin creating essentially dodging masks for contact prints.

Dodging masks are indeed an essential tool. Little bits of card on metal wire sticks.

Burning for darker dramatic skies was also standard.

Most newspaper photo's in the black and white day had it done.

My grandfather, S.D.Jouhar, was into all kinds of weird and wonderful photography in the years 1935-1963. I have all of his archive, including many exhibition prints and thousand of negatives and slides, most of which I have digitised.

Here is a double-exposure self portrait taken around 1958.
