I upgraded my Z8 firmware (no lens attached, fresh battery) to v. 3.0. It went as it should with no problems.

When it was finished I turned it off and attached the Nikon 70-180mm f/2.8 zoom (Tamikon).

Upon starting the camera, the rear screen took about a second longer than normal to turn on the display.

There was a dialogue box on the screen which read “If this lens is used then automatic …”. Poof, the dialogue box vanished before I could finish reading it. It was displayed for only a fraction of a second. I’m old and slow.

Nothing I do will bring back this dialogue box. Removing the lens and the battery, reset, fit another lens then reset and put the 70-180 back, etc.

I sure would like to know what the rest of that dialogue box said. Has anyone else seen this message?

The camera and lens seem to be functioning normally, although I haven’t had time to test all the new functions.

This is from Nikon Rumors. It looks like Tamron is aware of the issue https://nikonrumors.com/2025/07/02/...est-latest-nikon-z8-firmware-update-3-0.aspx/

It's a notice about automatic lens corrections. I wrote about it a few years ago here:

OP‘s lens is Nikon-branded lens, not a Tamron.

Maybe Nikon will release firmware updates for some of its lenses. This can happen in any camera brands nowadays. Just be patient.
