Hello, I bought the lens for my Nikon D80, and I wanted to see how the Macro actually works (since I saw some people photographing macro with those old lenses,) but I couldn't get focused on small objects, and I don't know what it means by 1:5 macro.

This lens is from an era when a magnification of 0.25x was considered "macro".
Nowadays most people consider that macro starts at 1x.

In other words, a full fame (35mm) image when printed at 4x6" is is the size of the original subject.

You'd get that at 200mm and closest focus. Just set the lens and move in toward an object.

The 1:4.5 is f/4.5, the minimum f-number.

Wasn't aware of the fact that concept of macro in 60s-70s was different from the concept of macro today (i know the concept is same, but i mean the fact that they considered macro a photo that is barely seen as macro today.)

thanks.

Ok i think i got it, the lenses minimum focus distance is written on it, 1.3 meter, and i was trying to focus on objects closer than that, thats the reason i couldn't do it. But overall, its not a Macro lens in the sense to capture bugs and so on.

Right. The smallest thing that's going to fill the frame is about 4x6 inches.

Last century a lot of zooms could go into a close focussing mode, often at only one focal length. They called themselves "zoom-macro" as it was snappier and more impressive than saying "with special close-up mode" but that didn't stop sticklers for truth complaining about it fifty years ago.

Before the 1990s most prime macro lenses were unit focussing and would only go to half life-size without an extension tube or macro converter. Modern macro lenses will focus closer than 4× their nominal focal length from the sensor; some will focus closer (subject to sensor distance) at image scales greater than 1:1 than they do at life-size. Both of those are impossible according to the thin lens formula 1/u + 1/v = 1/f unless the focal length f changes significantly while focussing. Everything about macro lenses is somewhat elastic.

Your lens was made by Ozone Optical , an OEM that also sold lenses under their own brand Ozunon.

They made lenses sold by many other companies often with a serial number starting with K. (the name of the founder , Kazao Ozone) .Tou/Five Star, Vivitar and Soligor were some of the other brands that sold those lenses.
