I feel very dumb in discovering this basic sensor cleaning tip the hard way, bear with me...
Shot a blue sky frame at f11 and was unhappy to see several dust spots on my sensor. Used my rocket blower and re-shot, still had dust spots. Have considerable experience in wet cleaning sensors, so I pulled out my sensor swabs and Eclipse fluid. Spots were still there. Repeated the wet cleaning with two more swabs. No better. Looked at the sensor with a high magnification jeweler's ring light and didn't see anything obvious.
Was looking at the spots again on my PC monitor when my wife adjusted the blinds in the room for brighter light. Lo & behold, I saw several spots on my PC's monitor exactly in the same locations where the "sensor dust" spots have been!
After thoroughly cleaning my monitor's screen, my camera's sensor turns out to be dust-free!
Tip: Make sure that your reference monitor screen is clean BEFORE evaluating or cleaning your camera's sensor!!! [Next time, I'll put up a white or blue background slide to see if the monitor screen needs cleaning first.]
Hope that this tale helps someone avoiding being like dummy me! LOL
