When this Bald Eagle flew in the gulls and other birds took off, but the crows were not intimidated. They harassed the eagle, two of them actually pulling its tail feathers. As the tide went out, it walked into the water and came back with a small crab. It ate a small piece, then sat by as an immature Bald Eagle flew in and took off with it. Thanks for looking.

Wow, what a set! Super detailed pictures with nicely exposed highlights and dark areas. Must have been amazing watching these magnificent birds.

Thanks for sharing.

Terrific series! Nicely done.

Nice set John,

Was the crow defending it's nest or stealing food?

Nice photos. In the 2nd does the Eagle have the crow’s foot in its mouth?

i’ve seen this behavior in Hoods Canal. A crow harrassing an Eagle for 10s of minutes.

Thanks Morris. That's a good question. No nests near by. They were not mobbing the eagle as they will owls or hawks. It really looked like they just enjoyed tormenting it. They would sneak up on the eagle while it had its back turned to grab a feather.

Incredible action captured there John.

Those crows sure have some nerve. Magpies here down under mob the harriers, but I've never seen behaviour like that.

They must have learned this game from Red Winged Blackbirds
