The a7Cii has an annoying "ker-plunk" shutter sound. I know that covering the two holes in the top plate helps. Whether this is because there is an artificial sound added, or it just lets out more noise when the holes are uncovered, I don't know. My a6600 and a7 also had noticeable shutter sounds, but not as bad. Which Sony cameras have the most subtle sound? I use EFCS on all my cameras.

Ironically the quietest yet most satisfying shutter sound I found is the camera that needs it the least - the A1. It's also the fastest sounding one on account of it moving almost twice as fast as most other shutters.

Plus it’s a different shutter construction, being carbon fibre. Which probably partly explains why it is so quiet, albeit EFCS only.

That said, aside from curiosity and testing, I’ve not once shot my A1’s in mechanical shutter!

A7rv is very quiet.

Maybe there is a market for downloadable shutter sounds like there was a market for downloadable cell phone ring tones in the 90's?

Beat me to it. I smile every time I use it.
